This Deckorators cap is covered with a shiny copper like appearance to look and feel like real Copper! Due to it not being real copper, it will not patina like real copper which will assist with keeping it's copper appearance. This deck cap is designed to slip right over your post cap.
We recommend the Cedar option for more stability and treated for more uniformity of wood color. These decorative post caps are used to add a finishing touch to any deck or fence. Caps can also be used to cover irregular posts whether 4" x 4" or 6" x 6" in size. Install caps by applying an exterior caulk to the under-side or by simply using finishing nails to nail the post cap to the post.
BEFORE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Whether you choose a treated or cedar cap, it is recommended to apply a sealer on ALL wood parts (top, bottom, inside and sides) of the cap BEFORE installation. Please note, treated yellow pine has a tendency to twist and bow more than Cedar. Applying and maintaining a sealer on the caps will help minimize this movement over time and give you a much longer life of your cap.
Due to Cedar wood being a natural product and having a large range of coloring, the wood could range from a brownish pink to a light cream.
