Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry) Hardwood Boards
Bring warmth, strength, and natural beauty to your next project with Jatoba hardwood, commonly known as Brazilian Cherry. Jatoba is a dense, durable tropical hardwood prized for its rich color, dramatic grain, and excellent wear resistance. Although it is not a true cherry species, its warm reddish-brown appearance has earned it the name “Brazilian Cherry.”
Choose from two board options:
- S4S (Surfaced Four Sides): Smooth and finished on all four sides, making these boards ready for many DIY and woodworking projects while reducing milling and preparation time.
- S2S1E (Surfaced Two Sides, One Edge): Planed smooth on both faces with one straight, finished edge. This practical, cost-effective option is ideal for woodworkers who prefer to complete additional milling or edge preparation themselves.
Samples are available to help you evaluate the wood’s natural color, grain, texture, and variation before ordering. Because hardwood is a natural material, each board may vary slightly.
Jatoba is a dense, durable hardwood with warm reddish-brown tones, a fine texture, and straight or interlocked grain. Color and grain variation are natural and should be appreciated as part of the wood’s unique character. Its excellent wear resistance makes it ideal for:
- Furniture: Tables, cabinets, shelving, and desktops
- Surfaces: Countertops, cutting boards, and benches
- Flooring: Flooring and stair parts
- Millwork: Trim, molding, turning, and custom projects
Because Jatoba is exceptionally hard and dense, sharp tools and proper cutting techniques are recommended. Pre-drilling is advised when using screws or other fasteners. The wood can be sanded and finished beautifully, although its density may require a little more time and care during preparation.
