Mahogany Hardwood Boards

Discover the natural beauty, versatility, and distinctive character of mahogany hardwoods. Mahogany is valued for its warm color, attractive grain, excellent workability, and dependable stability. Because “mahogany” can refer to several related species and varieties, the wood may range from light reddish-brown to deep, rich red-brown, with grain patterns that vary from straight and uniform to beautifully interlocked or ribbon-like. This natural diversity makes every board unique.

Our unfinished mahogany hardwood boards are available in two options:

  • S4S: Clean and ready to use, with all four sides surfaced—ideal for DIY projects, furniture, shelving, trim, and crafts.
  • S2S1E: Smooth on both faces with one clean edge. A more economical choice for woodworkers who plan to do additional milling or shaping.
  • 2" × 2" and 3" × 3" square dowels: clean and ready to use. Ideal for balusters and furniture.

Mahogany is a beautiful, versatile choice for DIYers and woodworkers alike. Samples are available so you can evaluate the wood’s color, grain, texture, and character before ordering.

Mahogany is known for its warm reddish-brown to deep red-brown color, fine-to-medium texture, and attractive grain. While many boards feature a straight, uniform grain, some may display interlocking or ribbon-like patterns, giving each piece its own unique character. The wood’s natural beauty deepens with age and finish, making it suitable for both traditional and contemporary designs.

Stable and resistant to warping when properly dried and handled, mahogany is also easy to cut, shape, sand, and finish. It accepts stains, oils, and clear finishes beautifully, while natural variations in color, grain, figure, and board character add to its appeal.

Mahogany is an excellent choice for:

  • Furniture, cabinetry, tables, desks, and shelving
  • Doors, trim, moldings, and architectural details
  • Decorative wall panels and interior millwork
  • Musical instruments, boxes, keepsakes, and fine woodworking projects
  • Cutting boards and serving boards, when suitable for the selected species and finish
