Cedar - Spanish

Spanish Cedar is a unique tropical hardwood valued for its lightweight strength, dimensional stability, natural decay resistance, and distinctive cedar-like aroma. Despite its name, it is not a true cedar; it belongs to the mahogany family and typically features warm pinkish-brown to reddish-brown coloring with a straight to slightly interlocked grain. Its natural oils help resist insects and moisture, which is why Spanish Cedar has long been favored for cigar humidors, fine cabinetry, millwork, doors, boatbuilding, and exterior applications. It is also easy to machine and carve, takes finishes well, and remains relatively stable in changing humidity, making it an excellent choice where appearance, workability, and durability are all important.
