Installation Guidelines:

This installation guide provides important steps for ensuring the longevity and quality of your door. Here’s a summary:

  1. Acclimatization: Store the door flat in a garage or house for a few days before installation, but do not place it directly on the ground. Use elevation to keep it off the floor.

  2. Storage Conditions: Keep the door in a dry area with low humidity to prevent damage.

  3. Wood Preservation: For best results, apply a few coats of Wood Life Classic Wood Preservative (sold separately) on the raw wood before any priming, staining, or sealing. This product can help extend the door's lifespan.

  4. Sealing Edges: Seal or prime all edges of the door within 48 hours after fitting, including the top and bottom edges, to protect against moisture.

  5. Quality Products: Use a high-quality exterior-grade primer, paint, or stain for finishing to ensure durability.

Following these steps will help maintain the door's appearance and functionality over time.

Recommendations for Pine Doors:

  1. Priming and Painting: Use a high-quality exterior grade separate primer and paint. This is essential for durability and maintaining warranty coverage.

  2. Installation Location: The door is best suited for areas with an overhang or protection from weather. For harsher climates, apply Classic Wood Life Preservative (sold separately) before priming and painting.

  3. Storm Doors: Storm doors come 1 inch longer for adjustment at installation. Side stiles are longer for shipping; trim top stiles to match the frame. Any necessary trimming should be done from the bottom of the door.

  4. Staining: Staining instead of priming and painting will void the warranty.

  5. Tape Removal: Remove tape at the seams of wood and glass before painting.

  6. Color Consideration: When painting dark or black colors, ensure that both the primer and top coat paint are exterior grade. Using interior products or combined primer/paint will void the warranty.

These guidelines help ensure the longevity and effectiveness of the door while maintaining any applicable warranties.

Recommendations for Mahogany Doors:

Mahogany doors are known for their beautiful grain and durability. Here are some key points about maintaining and finishing Mahogany doors:

  1. Staining and Coating: Use an exterior-grade stain or clear coat to enhance the door's natural beauty and provide protection. This is crucial, especially in areas with minimal overhang.

  2. Weather Considerations: In regions with harsh weather, priming and painting the Mahogany door is recommended for added protection.

  3. Trimming: Any necessary trimming should only be done from the bottom of the door since it is flush on top.

  4. Stain Restrictions: Avoid using very dark or black stains, as they can cause damage and void the warranty.

  5. Painting Requirements: If you choose to paint in a dark color, ensure you use an exterior-grade primer and topcoat. Interior products or combined primer and paint products will also void the warranty.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure the longevity and aesthetic appeal of your Mahogany door.

    6 lite storm door

Posted by Renee on 12th May 2024

The door is a beautiful design but unfortunately it came with deep scratches on 2 of the 6 glass panes which weren’t visible until it was unwrapped and installed. Also, since the glass panes are tempered there are stamps etched in each pane of glass. This is to be expected and wouldn’t be an issue if they were all located in the same spot on each pane but the glass panes weren’t installed consistently so the stamps appear in different corners of the glass and on different sides of the glass. It makes it appear cheaply made with a lack of quality control. Delivery was very timely and the third party delivery service they use was good.

    Overall Happy with Purchase

Posted by Matt M on 6th Oct 2023

Delivery was quick. Large hole in packaging and check out/confirmed no damage. Door is installed and well made. Issue with packaging on the door…pre-installed tape and padding difficult to remove. Needed sharp razor, Goo Gone and patience to completely remove glue. Overall, happy to purchase classic “southern-style” storm door that could be shipped to Virginia.

    6 light wooden storm door

Posted by Linda Sterlacci on 26th Sep 2024

I love this door and have had it for several years!. Bring it into your house and let it get used to the temperature before installing it. It is a thick door, so ensure you get thicker brass hinges. Also, it sticks a little during very humid weather but will return to normal soon after. Have a professional hang the door because it is a heavy door. Enjoy!

I love this door, and it's a very solid and beautiful door. I ended up getting heavier brass hinges bc it's a very heavy door, and it shipped quickly. It was a great company to work with from out of state!.
