    Product Description

Elevate Your Entrance with Our Standard 6-Lite Glass Wood Storm Doors

Discover the perfect blend of beauty and functionality with our 6-lite glass wood storm doors, available in White Pine and African Mahogany. This stunning six-panel design features durable 1/8" tempered glass, providing a striking view while maximizing natural light in your home.

These storm doors are crafted with a sturdy thickness of 1-1/8" for the pine door and 1-1/16" for the mahogany door. They not only enhance your entryway but also provide essential protection for your main door against the elements. Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with weather protection, while maintaining an open and inviting atmosphere whenever your front door is ajar.

Difference between White Pine and Mahogany: Both Pine and Mahogany storm doors are ideal: Mahogany door is denser, more rot-resistant, dimensionally stable and stronger — though it is more expensive. White pine is more budget-friendly, lighter, and easier to work with, but it’s softer, less rot-resistant.  Adding Woodlife Wood Preservative (sold separately) to the pine door will make it more rot-resistant.

For outdoor use, prime and paint both Pine and Mahogany with exterior-grade primer and paint. Additionally, coat Pine with a wood preservative (e.g., Woodlife Classic) for increased durability. Do not use a combined primer-and-paint product; use separate exterior-grade primer and paint.

Installation Location: These standard 6‑lite mahogany and white pine doors are best for sheltered areas (e.g., under an overhang). For harsher climates, unprotected installations, or if you want to stain the door, we recommend the Deluxe Mahogany Storm Door.

Please note: This listing is for the raw, unfinished door slab only—hardware is not included. Some preparation is required on both sides and edges to finish and hang the door to your specifications. White pine is available in the standard 3/0x6/8 and 3/0x7/0 sizes; mahogany is available in the standard 3/0 x 6/8 size.

Upgrade your entryway with a door that combines aesthetic appeal and practical benefits!

    Delivery Options:

    • Local customers can opt for store pickup or local delivery.
    • Shipping is available throughout the continental United States.
    • The doors are shipped via motor freight.

If you have any specific questions or need further assistance regarding these options, feel free to ask!

    Installation Guidelines:

This installation guide provides important steps for ensuring the longevity and quality of your door. Here’s a summary:

    1. Acclimatization: Store the door flat in a dry and interior climate controlled area for a few days before installation, but do not place it directly on the ground. Use elevation to keep it off the floor.
    2. Storage Conditions: Keep the door in a dry area with low humidity to prevent damage.
    3. Wood Preservation for Pine door: For best results, apply a few coats of Wood Life Classic Wood Preservative (sold separately) on the raw wood before any priming, staining, or sealing. This product can help extend the door's lifespan.
    4. Sealing Edges: Seal or prime all edges of the door within 48 hours after fitting, including the top and bottom edges, to protect against moisture.
    5. Quality Products: Use a high-quality exterior-grade primer, paint, or stain for finishing to ensure durability.

Following these steps will help maintain the door's appearance and functionality over time.

Recommendations for our White Pine Doors:

    1. Trimming Doors: Storm doors come 1 inch longer for adjustment at installation. Side stiles are longer for shipping; trim top stiles to match the frame. Any necessary trimming should be done from the bottom of the door.
    2. For harsher climates: apply Classic Wood Life Preservative (sold separately) before priming and painting.
    3. Priming and Painting: Use a high-quality exterior grade separate primer and paint. This is essential for durability and maintaining warranty coverage. Make sure to coat both sides, all edges and top and bottom of slab.
    4. Don't Stain: Staining instead of priming and painting will void the warranty.
    5. Tape Removal: Remove tape at the seams of wood and glass before painting.
    6. Color Consideration: When painting dark or black colors, ensure that both the primer and top coat paint are exterior grade. Using interior products or combined primer/paint will void the warranty.

These guidelines help ensure the longevity and effectiveness of the door while maintaining any applicable warranties.

Recommendations for our Standard Mahogany Doors:

Mahogany doors are known for their beautiful grain and durability. Here are some key points about maintaining and finishing the Standard Mahogany doors:

    1. Trimming: Any necessary trimming should only be done from the bottom of the door since it is flush on top.
    2. Light Sanding: Lightly hand-sand the mahogany 6‑lite storm door with fine-grit sandpaper (220–320 grit), always sanding with the grain for each area until smooth. Note that vertical stiles and horizontal rails have grain running in different directions, so sand each area with its own grain. Remove all dust with a tack cloth before applying primer, stain, or finish.
    3. Priming and Painting: Use a high-quality exterior grade separate primer and paint. Make sure to coat both sides and all edges, including top and bottom of slab.
    4. Don't Stain: The Standard Mahogany door should not be stained. If you want a stained finish, please see our the Deluxe Mahogany door.
    5. Painting Requirements: If you choose to paint in a dark color, ensure you use an exterior-grade primer and topcoat. Interior products or combined primer and paint products is not recommended.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure the longevity and aesthetic appeal of your Mahogany door.

To help paint the wood near the glass, the manufacturer applies painter's tape along the wood–glass edge.  Here’s how you can assist with removing the tape after the door is prepped:

    Step 1:

    • Objective: Detach the paper from the wood frame.
    • Method: Use a utility knife or a sharp tool to gently score the area where the paper meets the wood. Be careful not to damage the wood or the glass beneath. (See picture above for example.)

    Step 2:

    • Objective: Remove the paper from the glass without scratching it.
    • Method: Hold a single-edge razor blade nearly flat against the glass. Carefully scrape the paper off, ensuring the edge of the blade stays flat on the glass to avoid scratches. Move slowly and apply even pressure to peel off the paper smoothly.

    Tips:

    • wear gloves as a safety measure.
    • Always use a sharp blade for a clean cut or scrape and to minimize damage.
    • Work slowly to ensure you’re removing the paper without leaving residue on the glass.
    • If necessary, use a mild cleaning solution to remove any adhesive residue after the paper is removed.

Wearing gloves ensures that you have an additional layer of safety while handling sharp tools. This method should effectively and safely remove the paper, leaving the glass and frame intact.
