These Western Red Cedar shingles are 18" in length and vary in width from 3" to 8" wide. Blue label shingles are a higher grade than Red label.  Blue Label shingles are also 100% heartwood, 100% clear in the bottom 10" nearest butt and 100% edge grain. This shingle is 1/2" to 5/8" thick on the butt end and tapers to an average 1/8" thickness on top.  The blue label shingles are thicker than red label shingles and are recommended for roofing, exterior or interior siding and walls.  Recommend using a 5-1/2" exposure when installing as a  roof and a 7-1/2" exposure when installing vertically on siding.

  • Shingle is sold in hobby packs and contractors pack.
  • Hobby pack covers 5 to 6 square feet with an 8" to 9" exposure of the shingle. Ideal pack size for birdhouses, small repairs, outdoor projects, and hobbies.
  • Contractors pack covers 20 to 25 square feet with a 7" exposure of the shingle.  Ideal for new construction, repairs and outdoor projects.

    Western Red Cedar Shingles

Posted by Brian K Mason on 4th Nov 2024

Excellent product. Ordered online and priced so much better than what I could get in my area. Also, cannot say enough about the customer service. Had an issue with USPS updating the tracking information, and even though it wasn't Total's problem, they responded within a hour of me emailing them.

    Hobby pack Western Red Cedar

Posted by Frederick Irving on 20th May 2024

Purchased a cedar garden shed for my wife from a Company in British Columbia which sat too long awaiting construction. The roof section acquired a nest of carpenter ants in the interim. Since it only affected two roof panels, I set about seeing where I could find some matching shingles and finally landed at this company. I used every last shingle which were high quality matching replacements. Ok I would have had one spare but a female yellow jacket was looking to nest and I wacked it with a shingle which promptly split in half right before being attached. This pack was perfect for my repair of two roof panels and at a reasonable cost. Thanks.

    Good quality - right amount

Needed about 10-15 more cedar shakes for a roof overhang project. These were about the only cedar product that came in a small size. Came quickly, was excellent quality, and I was able to complete the project. Small bundle had over 20 shingles in it. Not much variation in width, but otherwise exactly what I needed. Thanks.
