This aluminum cap will keep the top of your shutters dry by keeping moisture out of the joint at the top of your shutter where your shutter is most exposed. Shutter Caps will keep your shutters in good shape for years to come. Can be used with any wooden shutters measuring 1" to 1-3/16" thick. Available for shutter widths, from 12" to 22" wide. Installation of Shutter Cap: Make sure shutter cap and shutter are dry and there is no loose paint chips on shutter. Shutter should be primed and painted with an exterior grade product. Add clear exterior silicone caulk to underside of shutter cap and press down on top of shutter, centering the cap on the shutter. Allow exterior silicone caulk to dry before hanging shutters on house.

Shutter caps
Depth of cap is too large for the normal 1” shutter. Filled the gap with wood stirrer. The material can be cut easily to fit the width of the shutter. With a little scuffing of the cap, material can be easily painted. Overall, I like the product and would recommend it for protecting wood shutters from moisture seepage into top joints. Strongly recommend re-engineering for smaller depth of cap.
