Southern Yellow Pine is a high quality virtually clear softwood lumber. This lumber is great for painting but can be stained if using a pre-stain wood conditioner on boards prior to staining. Boards are a C and Better grade. C and Better grade are the best grade available on pine lumber and is fairly clear but allows for an occasional pin knot or wane (some bark or missing edge). If wane is present, will only be on one side. Yellow pine is stronger than white pine or poplar, but has a tendency to warp more, especially in the wider widths. Yellow Pine typically holds up best in areas that have low humidity and a stable indoor environment. Not recommended for exterior, bathrooms or rooms that have high humidity levels.
