MDO (Medium Density Overlay) Plywood — paint-grade, weather-resistant panels
Medium Density Overlay (MDO) is a paint-grade plywood with a weather-resistant resin overlay bonded by heat and pressure. The overlay contains at least 27% resin to resist water, weather, wear, and degradation while providing a smooth, paint-receptive surface with minimal grain appearance.

Specifications
- Overlay: resin-saturated paper face (≥27% resin)
- Face options: G1S (one side) or G2S (both sides)
- Thicknesses: 1/2" or 3/4"
- Paint performance: painted finishes on MDO are up to 3× more durable than the same finish on ordinary plywood
- Sold cut from 4' x 8' stock in our woodshop — allow approx. ±1/4" variance for cut size

Handling & finishing notes
- Apply exterior-grade primer and paint for any outdoor application; proper finishing maximizes longevity.
- Cut with standard woodworking tools; expect ~1/4" cutting variance.
- Use G2S for two-sided finishing; G1S if only one finished face is required.

MDO quality plywood for sign making
This is a great product for making sign letters. Nearly perfect letters without voids. Cut letters 1-1/2" to 7 inch High on cnc router crisp clean edges very little sanding required

I have never used MDO wood before, but it is great for signs. I needed 2 x 2' sizes and Total Wood was great about cutting it for me. I would order again.
