Red Label Cedar Siding Shake Shingles are classified as appearance #2 grade, known as "Red Label." These cedar shakes vary in width from 3" to 8" and are 18" long. When installed with up to a 9" exposure, the visible portion of each shingle will be mostly clear, with occasional tight knots, but no loose knots will be present. Any loose knots are located at least 8" from the top of the shingle and will not be visible once installed.
The shingles contain very limited sapwood and flat grain. They are approximately 3/8" to 7/16" thick at the butt end, tapering to an average thickness of about 1/8".
While Red Label #2 grade shingles are not recommended for roofing, they are suitable for exterior or interior siding and other vertical surfaces, offering a rustic and attractive appearance.
Shingles are available in a small hobby pack, contractor bundle and contractor pallet pack:
- hobby pack: covers 5 to 6 square feet, with an 8" to 9" exposure of the shingle. Ideal pack size for birdhouses, small repairs, outdoor projects, and hobbies.
- Contractor bundle: covers 20 to 25 square feet with a 7" exposure of the shingle. Ideal for repairs and outdoor projects.
- Contractor Pallet pack: This includes 12 contractor bundles and covers 250 to 290 square feet with a 7" exposure of the shingle. This pack is ideal for larger projects and new construction. This bundle saves you on motor freight shipping to your location.
