Product Description
S2S1E Kiln-dried (surfaced 2 sides and 1 edge) Sapele, Quarter Sawn, Hardwood Lumber Boards for Woodworkers. These boards are partially dressed. Boards are “skip” surfaced on both faces with 1 edge clean-ripped. Skip surfaced cleans up most of the roughness to the board, but there could be an occasional rough patch on the faces of boards. Additional dressing and planning of the boards may be needed to complete your project. Since one edge is left rough, please allow a 1” variance in the width of the board.
Sapele is grown in Africa. Although the wood is pink when cut, it darkens to a red brown or purple brown. The grain is wavy and has a golden luster. It is used in furniture and cabinet making, musical instruments, doors and windows.

High Quality Stuff
I recently moved to a city where owning a car no longer made sense, so I ordered lumber online for the first time. I'll admit I was nervous about spending that much money on wood I couldn't inspect in person, but the team at Total Wood didn't let me down. The lumber arrived beautifully quartersawn on at least 95% of the show faces. Of the 18 seven-foot boards I ordered, all but a few were flawlessly quartersawn end-to end. And those few showed only minor cathedral grain where the cut passed near a branch. Everything was well within the bounds of quality I'd hoped for, and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.
