Poplar Hardwood Lumber Boards - Surfaced S4S (surfaced four sides) and kiln-dried. This board is more finished than our S2S1E boards and cut from our S2S material. Although surfaced, additional dressing and sanding of the boards may be needed to complete your project.
These boards are graded FAS (First and Seconds) on the one side which can allow an occasional pin knot and small defect on the good side. The back side can have a few knots, wane and other minor defects. There can be an occasional end check (small crack at end of board). This species has a tendency to slightly bend and warp more than other species.
Poplar is a very common utility hardwood in the US. Its sapwood is white, sometimes with stripes; the heartwood is usually tan, but can range from greenish brown to dark green, purple, black, and yellow. The wood is straight grained, uniform in texture and light weight.
If you would like a less finished board, please see our S2S1E Hardwoods.

Poplar lumber for dining table
I appreciate the quality lumber and our new poplar dining table. All of the lumber was very nice and consistent in color. I'm very pleased with the finished product.
