Curly Maple Hardwood(S4S), also known as tiger maple, has a distinctive wavy grain pattern with sheen and more character than hard or soft maple. This is an ideal hardwood if wanting more character in the grain. These Curly Maple boards can have both sap and heart wood, meaning there could be areas of darker streaks mixed in the boards. Or the boards can be just sap wood with the lighter color and no dark streak in the wood.
Originated mostly from sugar maple, this durable wood features anywhere from a pale light cream to reddish-brown tone and a dense structure. Curly Maple has a Janka hardness of 1450 lbf. This hardwood combines both strength and beauty with it's wavy pattern. It has quite a bit more character in it's appearance than hard or soft Maple.
This maple grows mostly in the Northern Hemisphere.
This is a fully surfaced board on all four sides and ready to be used in a project. If you would like a less finished board, please see our Curly Maple S2S1E Hardwood.
