Medium density overlay plywood, or MDO panel, is a paintable surface made of plywood with a weather-resistant resin overlay bonded to the wood by heat and pressure. This is for a 48" x 96" (4'X8') sheet. The overlay, which has at least 27% resin content, resists water, weather, wear and degradation.
MDO is an ideal for sign painting or a sign board. The plywood is patch-free, smooth, and clear under the paper face. There is a minimal grain appearance. This resin paper face can either be on one side (G1S) or both sides (G2S) of the plywood. Available in 1/2" or 3/4" thickness.
MDO plywood is weather-resistant and water-proof. Paint finishes on MDO are up to three times more durable than the same finish applied to ordinary plywood. MDO is designed to have a smooth, paint-receptive surface.
MDO plywood can be used for different applications involving interior and exterior uses. MDO plywood can be drilled, shaped, routed, or simply sawn to complete a variety of projects. Due to the moisture resistance and weather resistant properties, the plywood can be used in the manufacturing of exterior signs or even under laminate countertops. As with with any exterior product, it is highly recommended to apply an exterior grade primer and paint to the completed project if exterior application applies. Because of the smooth paper face, primer and paint adhere well. MDO plywood has the ability to hold up better than other exterior plywood when exterior primer and paint has been applied.
The 48"x 96" (4'x8') size sheets are sold at a minimum of 8 sheets. Due to its size, this sheet must be motor-freighted to your location.
