1/4" Thickness Grade:
A/C Grade: This plywood combines the superior appearance of the A side with the more utilitarian characteristics of the C side. It's often used in situations where one side needs to be attractive while the reverse side can be functional and less visually appealing, such as in furniture with exposed sides or back panels.

  • Grade A Side: The A side features a high-quality veneer with a smooth surface and minimal visible defects. It may have some minor imperfections, like small knots, but these are generally unobtrusive. This side is suitable for applications where appearance is important, such as cabinetry, furniture, or visible paneling.
  • Grade C Side: The C side has more noticeable imperfections, such as large knots, minor splits, patching and discolorations. It is less aesthetically pleasing than the Grade A side, making it more suitable for applications where the wood will not be visible, such as in construction or for underlying structures.

1/2" and 3/4" Thickness Grade:

A/B Grade: This Plywood is labeled as A/B grade meaning one side is of Grade A quality, while the other side is Grade B. This type of plywood is versatile, allowing for a smooth and aesthetically pleasing top surface (A side) for visible applications, while the back side (B) can be less refined, usually hidden or painted.

  • Grade A Side: This is the highest quality veneer, featuring a smooth surface with few visible defects. It may have some minor imperfections, like small knots, but these are generally unobtrusive. Grade A plywood is often used for high-quality furniture, cabinetry, and decorative applications where appearance is important.
  • Grade B Side: This grade has more imperfections than Grade A but is still considered a good quality veneer. It may contain larger knots, discolorations, patches and some minor splits, but it still provides a reasonably good aesthetic for many projects. Grade B plywood is often used in applications where the wood will be painted or covered, as well as in furniture that doesn’t require an aesthetic finish.
