- Fastening: Use construction adhesive plus finish nails or brads every 8–12". For boxes/drawers use wood glue and small brads.
- Seams/edges: Butt seams or cover joints with thin cedar trim for a finished look.
- Ventilation: Allow minimal airflow in closets to keep scent consistent.
Finishing & scent tips
- Do not seal surfaces if you want the natural cedar scent and moth protection — finishes block the aroma.
- If durability is needed, seal only outer/visible surfaces and leave interior-facing surfaces unfinished.
- Light 220-grit sanding before install freshens aroma and improves glue adhesion; avoid over-sanding.
- Re-scent by light scuff-sanding or rubbing with a small amount of natural cedar oil.
Care & maintenance
- Keep dry; wipe spills promptly to avoid warping.
- Clean with a vacuum, soft brush, or damp cloth; avoid harsh chemicals.
- Refresh scent occasionally with light sanding.
